Authorities in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, have reopened a 46-year-old temple discovered during an anti-encroachment drive. The temple, closed since 1978, contained ancient idols of Lord Hanuman, Shivling, and Nandi. Opposition leaders, including Akhilesh Yadav and AIMIM’s Asaduddin Owaisi, criticised the Centre over increasing survey petitions in courts, urging adherence to the Places of Worship Act. This follows recent communal clashes in Sambhal after a court-ordered survey of the Shahi Jama Masjid.
