In this episode, The Lallantop’s Kuldeep Mishra explained about why Jaguar and MIG-21 planes crash frequently. In 2002, a Jaguar fighter jet crashed into a residential area in Ambala, killing five and injuring sixteen. Two decades later, a flight Lieutenant Siddharth Yadav was flying a Jaguar another. But again it was one the many Jaguars which encountered technical failure mid-air, Siddharth saved his co-pilot and steered the aircraft away from homes. He didn’t survive. These frequent jet crashes bring us to few important questions.
-Why is India still flying Jaguars—jets that France and Britain retired over 20 years ago?
-Why are MiG-21s, dubbed “flying coffins,” still part of our air fleet?
-The current inventory of IAF’s combat aircraft: from Rafale to MiG-21.
Why Jaguar and MiG-21 crashes are so frequent.
-The technical and logistical flaws making these jets unsafe.
-Why delays in Tejas aircraft production are stalling fleet modernization.
-How India’s air readiness compares with China and Pakistan.
