Seven political parties of Kashmir-centric mainstream had secretly contested under the banner of the Gupkar Alliance. These parties also include the National Conference and the People’s Democratic Party. Initially the Congress was also a part of the PAGD, but later it distanced itself from the alliance as the BJP targeted the opposition parties.
