The Prime Minister is set to honour the Chola dynasty by marking 1000 years since Rajendra Chola I’s maritime expedition to Southeast Asia and will release a commemorative coin. This programme introduces the Ganga Ekonda Cholapuram temple, built by Rajendra Cholan, the son of Rajaraja Cholan. Located 50 kilometres from the famous Brahadeeshwara temple in Tanjavur, this temple was the centerpiece of a new capital.
