India made a strong comeback on Day 4 of the fourth Test against England at Old Trafford. After losing both openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sai Sudharsan for ducks in the very first over, Shubman Gill and KL Rahul steadied the innings with brilliant half-centuries. India finished the day at 174/2, still trailing England by 137 runs. Earlier in the match, England posted a massive 669 in their first innings, thanks to a sensational 141 from Ben Stokes — the highest-ever Test total at Old Trafford.
Gill broke Virat Kohli’s record for the most runs by an Indian captain in a Test series and also became the first Asian batter to score over 650 runs in a Test series in England.A crucial Day 5 awaits, with India needing to bat out the final day to save the Test and the series.
