On this special edition, a report from ground zero of the devastation in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand. A deluge of mud and silt has swept away the village of Dharali, resulting in five fatalities. Rescue operations by the Army, NDRF, and SDRF are underway, with 190 people, including 13 army personnel, brought to safety. The rescue is hampered by extensive damage to the Gangotri Highway, including a 60-meter cave-in near Bhatwadi that has cut off vehicle access. A new lake formation at Khesu top also poses a further threat. Uttarakhand’s Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has surveyed the affected areas and confirmed that rescued individuals have been moved to safe locations.
