Om Prakash Batham, a 25-year-old Dalit man was brutally beaten to death by his alleged upper-caste wife’s family in Madhya Pradesh for marrying her against their wishes. The couple had facing threats and social boycott. Om Prakash was attacked during a visit home for Raksha Bandhan and died after six days in the hospital. A murder case has been filed against 12 accused including the victim’s in-laws.
