In Jammu and Kashmir, 34 people have died after a massive landslide on the Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrimage route in Riyasi district on 26th August. The disaster was triggered by days of torrential rain, flash floods, and a possible cloudburst. The pilgrimage has been suspended on both routes to the shrine. Multi-agency rescue operations are underway, involving the Indian Army, NDRF, SDRF, and others, as authorities race to find those still trapped. The severe weather has caused widespread damage, with bridges collapsing, and the Chenab river flowing above the danger mark. Jammu and Udhampur recorded their heaviest rainfall ever in a 24-hour period. Experts attribute the increasing frequency of such events to a combination of climate change and unplanned urbanization, with the UN calling it a “distress signal of climate breakdown.” #vaishnodevilandslide #vaishnodevitragedy #jammufloods #itwebvideos #jammuandkashmir #jkfloods #flashflood #cloudburst #katra #rescueoperation #ndrf #indianarmy #climatechange #naturaldisaster #vaishnodeviyatra #jammurains
