India is mourning the loss of Zubeen Garg, the cultural icon from Assam, whose funeral drew over 1.5 million people. The massive gathering, recognized by the Limca Book of Records, has been marked as the fourth largest funeral in history after those of Queen Elizabeth II, Pope Francis, and Michael Jackson. Zubeen’s passing on September 19 in Singapore sparked an outpouring of grief, with streets of Guwahati and across Assam flooded by fans bidding their final farewell.
