The Supreme Court of India has issued a notice to the BJP’s Assam unit over an AI-generated video posted on X (formerly Twitter), which claimed that Muslims would take over Assam if the BJP lost the elections.
The petition, filed by journalist Qurban Ali and Senior Advocate Anjana Prakash, argues that the video spreads hate and violates the Supreme Court’s previous directions to take suo motu action against hate speech. The bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta heard the plea and directed the authorities to act according to the Court’s prior orders. The next hearing is scheduled for October 28, 2025.
