Electronics & Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced a new scheme to boost electronics manufacturing in India. He said the scheme will focus on producing key components:
1. PCBs (Printed Circuit Boards), used in devices like laptops, servers, trains, rockets, and planes, including advanced multi-layered PCBs.
2. High-purity copper laminates, essential for electronics.
3. Camera modules for devices.
4. Thin films for capacitors. These plants will meet 20% of India’s PCB needs, 15% of camera module needs, and 100% of copper laminate needs, reducing reliance on imports.
