The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is conducting large-scale raids in West Bengal and Jharkhand in connection with an illegal coal mining case. ED teams from Kolkata and Ranchi are searching over 40 premises, including 24 in West Bengal districts like Durgapur, Purulia, and Kolkata, and 18 in Jharkhand. The investigation targets alleged coal mafias, with searches underway at premises related to individuals including Narendra Kharka, Anil Goyal, Yudhishthir Ghosh, Krishnamurari Kayal, and LB Singh. According to our reporter on the ground, ‘What we have been given to understand these raids are being correlatively done in order to find out some incriminating documents that they are looking for and henceforth this remains to be a very crucial raid as we speak.’ The operation aims to uncover evidence related to illegal mining, transportation, and storage of coal, which has resulted in significant financial loss to the government.
