Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar calls for a thorough post-mortem of Indian cricket, suggesting the formation of a review committee with an outside perspective. He proposed bringing together former players like Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, Anil Kumble, and Ravi Shastri to formulate a five-year plan. Gavaskar questioned the transparency of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), stating, ‘I have no idea who takes cricketing calls in the BCCI. Nobody knows’. He clarified that his suggestion is not to ‘relax’ after a defeat but to identify areas that need strengthening at the Test level. Gavaskar also mentioned including Gautam Gambhir and the selection committee in discussions with the proposed group of senior players to find the best way forward for Indian cricket.
