Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra have issued important new directives regarding the use of Aadhaar. UP has clarified that Aadhaar cannot be used as a birth certificate or proof of date of birth. Maharashtra has also declared that Aadhaar is no longer valid for issuing birth certificates, and all certificates made only through Aadhaar after August 2023 will be cancelled. Both states have issued official orders to prevent misuse, fake birth/death certificates, and illegal activities. This video breaks down what both governments said, why these orders were issued, and how UIDAI’s clarification triggered these changes.
