A young man named Saksham from Nanded, Maharashtra, was killed allegedly by the family of his girlfriend, Aanchal, who opposed their three-year relationship. Police say he was shot and then struck on the head with a tile, leading to his death. Hours before his funeral, Aanchal fled her home, reached Saksham’s house, and applied vermilion on her forehead before his body, declaring him her partner even in death. She accused her family of targeting Saksham due to caste and demanded the death penalty for them. An FIR was filed against eight people, including her parents and brothers, all of whom have been arrested.
