A unique incident unfolded in Hubballi after a nationwide shortage of pilots led to mass cancellations of Indigo flights, leaving a newlywed couple unable to attend their own wedding reception. The reception for Megha Kshirsagar of Hubballi and Sangam Das of Bhubaneswar, both software engineers working in Bengaluru, was scheduled to be held at Gujarat Bhavan in Hubballi last Wednesday. The couple, who were married in Bhubaneswar on November 23, had booked a connecting flight via Bengaluru to reach Hubballi on December 2. Several relatives had also booked flights via Mumbai. However, flight delays began on the morning of December 2 and continued till the early hours of December 3, eventually leading to sudden cancellations. With no alternative travel options available, the couple remained stranded in Bhubaneswar. In an unusual turn of events, the bride’s parents sat in the seats reserved for the couple and conducted the reception rituals, while the bride and groom joined virtually through video conferencing.
