A viral video from Chhattisgarh’s Raigarh district shows a man, allegedly the prime accused in the Tamnar coal mine protest violence, being paraded by police with handcuffs, lipstick smeared on his face and a garland of slippers, while he is forced to chant slogans. He is accused of tearing a woman constable’s uniform and partially stripping her during the December 27 protest, where violence erupted, police were attacked, vehicles were torched and several personnel, including women officers, were injured. Police have arrested six accused, including prime suspect Chitrasen Sahu, while one is still absconding. Multiple serious cases have been registered and investigation continues.
