A NEET aspirant’s death in Patna has taken a serious turn after allegations of rape were confirmed in the postmortem report. The student was hospitalised after being found unconscious on January 6 and died during treatment on January 11. Initially, police termed the case a suicide and denied sexual assault, despite the family’s allegations. Four days later, postmortem findings revealed signs of sexual violence and forced assault. The family has accused the hostel management of attempting a cover-up and offering money for compromise. An SIT has been formed to investigate the case, and the hostel operator has been arrested.
