A BTech second-year student, Udit Soni from Jhansi, died at a hostel in Greater Noida, triggering protests by fellow students. According to reports, Udit had returned to the EZ Stays hostel after drinking with friends, following which the hostel management reprimanded him and allegedly recorded a video. The video was reportedly sent to his father, who scolded him over the phone. Soon after, Udit died in the hostel on January 23. Police have launched an investigation and detained two people. Students accused the hostel management of misconduct, leading to protests and vandalism. Authorities say the exact cause of death will be clear after the postmortem and probe.
