A water tank was being constructed by the water supply department in Tadkeshwar village of Mandvi taluka in Surat district. The tank, part of the ‘Gaypagla Water Supply Scheme’, was designed to hold 11 lakh liters of water and stood 15 meters tall. The construction cost was 21 crore rupees. Despite this significant investment, the water tank collapsed during a trial run when it was filled with only 9 lakh liters of water. This incident has sparked anger among the local residents.
