India’s Ministry of External Affairs on January 31 firmly rejected claims linking Prime Minister Narendra Modi to references in the so-called Epstein files, calling them baseless and condemnable. The denial came after Congress leader Pawan Khera cited social media posts alleging interactions involving convicted US financier Jeffrey Epstein, former Trump strategist Steve Bannon, and the Prime Minister. The MEA clarified that apart from PM Modi’s official visit to Israel in July 2017, the claims are nothing more than the imagination of a convicted criminal. The Congress raised questions, while the government maintained that the allegations lack credibility.
