French President Emmanuel Macron, accompanied by First Lady Brigitte Macron, begins a high-profile visit to India from February 16 to 19, 2026. The visit centers on the AI Impact Summit 2026 and strengthening the strategic partnership between New Delhi and Paris. Arriving in Mumbai, Macron is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Lok Bhavan for bilateral talks and the exchange of several MoUs. A significant highlight of the visit is the focus on defence cooperation, with India moving to procure 114 Rafale fighter jets under a government-to-government deal valued at approximately ₹3.60 lakh crore. The itinerary includes a tribute to the 2008 Mumbai terror attack victims, meetings with Indian cinema leaders, and the inauguration of the India-France Innovation Forum. The leaders will later travel to Delhi for the opening of the AI Impact Summit, emphasizing collaboration in healthcare and responsible innovation.
