In Union Budget 2026, the Finance Bill proposes to restrict full income tax exemption on disability pensions only to armed forces personnel “invalided out” of service due to service-related disabilities. Those who serve full term despite disabilities and retire on superannuation will now face taxation on their disability pensions.
