At the United Nations, Iran’s ambassador Amir Saeid Iravani accused the United States and Israel of launching a deliberate act of aggression on February 28, 2026, calling it a violation of the UN Charter. He said Iran poses no imminent threat and is exercising its right to self-defense under Article 51. The U.S., however, described the strike as a necessary preemptive action for national security. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and House Speaker Mike Johnson called it a limited operation. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu argued the attack was essential before Iran’s missile and nuclear programs became untouchable.
