The conflict in West Asia has entered a new phase. Following the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran has launched a massive retaliatory strike targeting US airbases across Israel, Jordan, Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Oman. Reports of heavy explosions have emerged from Saudi Arabia’s capital, Riyadh, with plumes of smoke seen over the city. Amidst this crossfire, thousands of Indian tourists and expats are stranded.
The Lallantop spoke with Sunil Gupta, an Indian tourist currently stuck in a Dubai hotel with his family. Having come for a vacation, Sunil now faces the grim reality of cancelled flights and rising tensions. He shares his firsthand account of hearing explosions in Dubai and expresses his fear of not being able to return to India in time for Holi.
