In Chhattisgarh’s Durg district, the police have uncovered an illegal opium plantation worth an estimated ₹8 crore, meticulously concealed within a five-acre maize field to evade detection. The illicit cultivation, spread across the villages of Samoda, Jhenjhari, and Sirsa, has led to the arrest of three individuals, including local BJP leader Vinayak Tamrakar who has been suspended. Tamrakar claims the land belongs to relatives and denies direct involvement. The case gained further political heat after former CM Bhupesh Baghel visited the site to demand accountability.
