In Chennai, electrical appliance stores report record sales of induction stoves, with over a hundred units sold daily at major outlets. Customers are panic-buying electric cookers, kettles, and other appliances amid fears of running out of gas. In Chandigarh, long queues are seen at gas agencies, with residents reporting month-long waits for new connections and allegations of black marketing. In Delhi, customers complain of three to four-day delays despite online bookings. Bengaluru restaurants have shifted to electric steamers and induction stoves to continue operations. The hospitality sector, particularly eateries making items like idli dosa, has been significantly impacted. The Prime Minister has assured citizens that the Centre is prioritising Indian consumers’ interests, while government officials report a 25 per cent increase in domestic LPG production since 9 March and urge people not to panic or rush into fresh bookings.
