Local BJP MLA Pritam Lodhi fired back with a video slamming Purohit’s ‘character’ and ‘mentality’, demanding strict action in a letter to DEO Vivek Srivastava, accusing him of inciting unrest and breaching civil service conduct rules. DEO ordered immediate suspension without show-cause notice, citing ‘objectionable’ video damaging department image; Purohit now at Badarwas block office on subsistence pay. Purohit, Happiness Department in-charge, insists it was light-hearted comedy at Anand Bhawan community event to spread joy, questioning: “How did a joke disrupt peace?” The family fears for his safety.
