An India Today ground report by Pranay Upadhyaya from Haifa, Israel, provides an exclusive look inside the city’s underground multi-agency command and control centre. Located many metres deep within the municipal corporation building, this nerve centre coordinates Haifa’s emergency response system following dual attacks from Hezbollah and Iran. The facility houses officials from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Home Front Command, city emergency services, and mediation teams. Equipped with a detailed map of the city and a massive wall of hundreds of CCTV cameras, the centre monitors every corner of Haifa, including high-stakes strategic assets like the Haifa port and the oil refinery, which was targeted twice in 37 days. The report highlights how the continuous monitoring of the skyline and infrastructure, including hospitals, stadiums, and residential areas, allows authorities to detect incoming projectiles and formulate a real-time response to protect the Mediterranean coastline city.
