Fresh details have emerged from the high-level Congress leadership meetings held in Delhi regarding the Karnataka leadership transition. According to sources, senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi directly reminded Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah about the alleged 2.5-year rotational Chief Minister promise made after the Congress victory in the 2023 Karnataka Assembly elections.
Sources say Rahul Gandhi stressed that the commitment needed to be honoured and pointed out that Siddaramaiah had already completed nearly three years in office — around six months beyond the reported 2.5-year understanding. Despite Siddaramaiah highlighting his government’s welfare schemes and development work, the Congress high command reportedly maintained that the leadership transition should now take place.
