Even as high-level peace talks between Iran and the United States continue in Doha, fresh explosions have once again raised tensions in West Asia. The US military claimed it carried out “self-defence strikes” in southern Iran, targeting missile launch sites and boats allegedly laying sea mines near Bandar Abbas. Washington said the attacks were meant to protect American troops and insisted the ceasefire remains in place. Meanwhile, Iran says the situation is under control. The developments come amid ongoing negotiations over a possible peace deal, the future of the Strait of Hormuz and a broader regional settlement involving the Abraham Accords.
