Police resorted to a lathi-charge against ITI students in Patiala, Punjab. The students were protesting near the Powercom head office when the police used batons to disperse them. They were demonstrating to demand employment. On June 5, members of the 2,600-strong Apprentice Linemen Union were staging a sit-in protest outside the Powercom headquarters in Patiala to press for their demands. During the protest, the police took action to remove the demonstrators, leading to a tense situation and the subsequent lathi-charge.
