Congress leader and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi has criticized the Indian government’s decision to temporarily restrict Telegram ahead of the NEET UG 2026 re-examination. Sharing a post on social media, Rahul Gandhi questioned whether banning a platform used by millions of students for study materials, test series, and discussions could actually stop paper leaks. He argued that action should be taken against the alleged paper leak networks rather than students. The controversy comes after the National Testing Agency (NTA) cited alleged fraud, fake paper leak claims, and exam-related scams on Telegram channels. Meanwhile, Telegram founder and CEO Pavel Durov also criticized the move, claiming that restricting Telegram would not stop those involved in paper leaks and would primarily affect ordinary users. The debate has intensified as India prepares for the NEET UG 2026 re-examination.
