His family alleges that a ₹21 lakh compensation cheque provided by the Bihar government was handed over to a woman identified as his wife without informing them. While the family claims they were unaware of any legal marriage, local authorities maintain that official records recognize Shreya Rai as Shubham’s legally wedded wife, making her eligible for the financial assistance. The controversy has sparked questions about communication, legal documentation, and the distribution of benefits to the families of fallen soldiers.
