Ukraine’s sustained drone attacks on Russian oil refineries have forced an unexpected shift in the global energy landscape. Despite being one of the world’s largest energy exporters, Russia has started importing gasoline from India to ease fuel shortages at home. The move is particularly striking because India refines discounted Russian crude oil into finished fuels before exporting them back. Reports indicate supply disruptions, fuel rationing, and rising prices in parts of Russia. While President Vladimir Putin has acknowledged the shortages, he maintains that the attacks have not changed the course of the war.
