The Supreme Court of India has announced a major initiative to reduce the backlog of pending cases.
Chief Justice of India Justice Surya Kant said that four special benches have been constituted under the new roster. Two benches will hear civil matters and two will hear criminal matters, with the aim of disposing of old pending cases more quickly.
