In an interview on Jab We Met, Kerala Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan outlined his administration’s vision, fiscal strategies, and administrative priorities. Addressing Kerala’s vulnerable financial condition, Satheesan emphasized releasing a white paper on fiscal health and adopting financial management protocols to curb exchequer leakage. He stated, “Government is not going to run the show. Government should be a facilitator,” highlighting plans to transition Kerala’s remittance economy into an investment-driven model. He detailed upcoming initiatives, including integrating six hundred kilometers of coastline into a unified port city network, restructuring educational curricula to curb brain drain, and setting up a dedicated department for senior citizens. Satheesan also discussed federal relations, cautioning that proposed parliamentary delimitation would disproportionately affect southern states due to lower population growth from successful family planning. Rejecting communal politics, he maintained that Kerala’s political identity remains secular, while calling for regulated social media policies to safeguard women from online harassment.
