The political controversy over the “Trisha” remarks has escalated further after TVK approached the National Commission for Women (NCW), seeking action against DMK leader and Leader of Opposition Udayanidhi Stalin. TVK has demanded an unconditional apology and urged the NCW to take cognizance of what it describes as sexually suggestive remarks. The party is also planning to file a formal police complaint and seek criminal action against Udayanidhi Stalin. The controversy, which began after “Trisha, Trisha” chants during Udayanidhi’s speech, has already drawn criticism from the BJP and Congress, intensifying the political battle in Tamil Nadu.
