Air India flight AI2379, flying from Phuket to Delhi, suddenly lost around 300 feet in altitude during severe turbulence on August 4. The incident left at least 17 passengers and four crew members injured. According to reports, the aircraft’s autopilot disconnected, followed by a flight-control stall warning, temporary loss of several indicator switches and multiple hydraulic system issues. The DGCA has classified the incident as a serious incident, while the AAIB is investigating with support from Airbus and France’s BEA. Both pilots underwent post-flight psychoactive substance screening, with the final confirmatory report still awaited. The aircraft’s flight data and cockpit recordings are being examined.
