An FIR has been registered against Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi. It is alleged that he hurt the sentiments of the Dalit community. Consequently, a case has been filed at the Haldwani Kotwali police station in Uttarakhand under Section 3(1)(q) of the SC/ST Act. Additionally, charges under Sections 196 and 299 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) have been invoked against him. The complainants, Amit Kumar and Vinod Kumar Arya, allege that Rahul’s statement insulted the Dalit community as well as those who participated in the purification program.
