A man identified as Pradeep Raj was allegedly hacked to death by a group of men in Tiruvottiyur, Chennai. Police have arrested four people, including a history-sheeter, in connection with the murder case. The attack was reportedly caught on camera. The victim’s family alleges that the killing was linked to a past gang rivalry and a loan dispute, claiming that a ₹3 lakh loan had led to ₹16 lakh being paid as interest. The family has also alleged police involvement and said Pradeep had approached the police a day before the murder, claiming his life was under threat. The case comes days after another brutal murder in Chennai, raising fresh questions over law and order in the city.
