A minor girl was chased, accosted, and molested by a mob of men in the Karpuri Gram area of Bihar’s Samastipur on September 23, mirroring a similar incident reported from Jamui on September 19. The girl and her friend were riding a motorcycle when they were cornered by a group of youths who hurled abuses, pulled her down, and groped her while she pleaded for help. The entire incident was captured on video and circulated widely, prompting police intervention. Authorities scrutinised the footage, identified the individuals involved, and arrested four suspects in connection with the molestation. The incident has raised critical concerns regarding women’s safety, public order, and the deterrence of law enforcement in the state following repeated episodes of harassment in broad daylight.
