External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar addressed India’s foreign policy priorities, economic trajectory, and international partnerships during an international policy panel discussion. Jaishankar stated that India anticipates decades of high economic growth and addressed global governance challenges, advocating for United Nations reform rather than dismantling multilateral institutions. Emphasizing expanding India-European Union cooperation across artificial intelligence, semiconductors, defense industries, and green energy, he identified a prospective India-EU Free Trade Agreement as a transformative development. Discussing energy security and strategic trade corridors, Jaishankar addressed regional volatility involving Iran and reiterated India’s independent position outside the Non-Proliferation Treaty. Addressing European queries on New Delhi’s relations with Moscow, Jaishankar affirmed that India bases its foreign policy decisions on historical experience, while actively engaging both Russia and Ukraine to support diplomacy, shipping security, and grain exports. Additionally, he discussed shifts in global leadership, the expansion of BRICS, and India’s role in humanitarian assistance and regional disaster response.
