An investigation into the Flydubai mid-air incident has revealed a terror attack attempt by Omani co-pilot Hammam al-Hammami. UAE authorities confirmed that al-Hammami used a cockpit crash axe to attack Indian pilot Smit and tried to seize control of the aircraft in an attempted crash bid. Officials are probing suspected Al-Qaeda links following reports that his LinkedIn profile displayed imagery of Osama bin Laden’s successor. In addition, his Instagram account was deleted on the day of the attack. Investigations indicate that al-Hammami was previously barred from flying by Oman Air due to extremist views and reassigned to an administrative role, yet he was subsequently hired by Flydubai and cleared for sensitive routes.
