Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) members Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das have been sent to five days of judicial custody by a Special Executive Magistrate in Delhi. They were detained by Delhi Police on October 13 during a protest at Jantar Mantar and were later placed under preventive arrest. CJP legal team head Ratna Singh said the charges against the leaders include entering Jantar Mantar without permission, violating bond conditions and obstructing a public servant from performing official duties.
CJP spokesperson Abhijeet Dipke criticised the decision, claiming that the leaders were being punished for hoisting the Indian national flag at Jantar Mantar. Meanwhile, Ajinkya Shinde was released after furnishing a peace bond.
