A private jet crashed in Florida, killing all nine people on board. The Learjet 60 was flying from Austin, Texas, to North Eleuthera in the Bahamas when it suddenly plunged towards the ground and burst into flames. Moments before the crash, the pilot reported turbulence, icing and rain, requested permission to climb to a higher altitude, and later issued a ‘Mayday’ distress call. Was severe weather responsible for the crash, or was there a technical malfunction? The investigation by the FAA and NTSB is underway.
