The first two parts of our series ‘History of Indian Budget’ for Budget 2021 have been released in which we get to know why the budget is called so and the meaning of an interim budget. We also talked about the history of the Indian budget before independence, and the first few budgets of independent India. The Lallantop talked about how in the first two decades of independent India, the Finance Minister left the government. Apart from this, we came to know about such a budget, which is called ‘black budget’ due to coal, and what was the reason that no finance minister came from Rajya Sabha before Pranab Mukherjee.
