The flash floods that hit parts of Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district two days ago was due to the collapse of a hanging glacier, the scientists at the Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology suggested in their initial observations. Efforts are underway to rescue workers trapped inside a tunnel in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district, two days after flash floods in the region swept away almost everything along with the Alaknanda river system.
