Trump Administration has abruptly ordered to close down Chinese consulate in Houston, Texas. United States government has asked China to cease all operations and events at its Houston consulate. Before this decision by Trump administration, Houston police department received reports of smoke in the courtyard of Chinese Consulate. According to the videos shared by local media in Houston, Chinese consulate officials inside the compound were burning documents. Decision to close this Chinese consulate in Houston came few hours after this incident. Apart from the closure of Chinese Consulate Houston, FBI has also claimed that a PLA linked fugitive Chinese scientist accused of visa fraud is hiding inside Chinese Consulate San Francisco.
Trump administration has accused that China is engaged in massive illegal spying across America and Europe. Marco Rubio, Republican Senator from Florida, claimed that Chinese Consulate in Houston is the central node of Communist Party’s vast network of spies and influence operations in the United States. Tensions between China and the United States are continuously on rise.
