India batsman KL Rahul’s rich vein of form in limited-overs format continued as he scored a match-winning fifty in the 2nd T20I against New Zealand in Auckland on Sunday. KL Rahul scored his 2nd successive fifty of the series as India defeated New Zealand in consecutive occasions for the 1st time in T20Is. With scores of 56 and 57 not out in the 1st 2 games of the ongoing series, KL Rahul has become the 1st player in T20I history to score fifties in his 1st 2 matches as wicketkeeper-batsman. New Zealand won the toss and decided to bat first, they finished their innings on 132-5. India were chasing a below-par total of 133 on a used pitch at Eden Park. However, they lost the key wickets of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma early. KL Rahul though looked solid and went about his game without taking pressure. With 2 sixes and 3 boundaries, Rahul took India past the finish line. He had stitched a crucial 86-run stand with Shreyas Iyer (44) who is slowly turning out to be the solution to India’s middle-order woes in limited-overs cricket.
